Knight's Shield
Our Knight’s Shield features an all metal construction and a historically accurate design. The shield is red and blue and features fleur de lis symbols, which stands for the Holy Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The approximate length of the Knight's Shield is 26.5 inches and the width is 19 inches. This shield has a rubber bolted handle and forearm strap for holding during reenactments as well as a chain for wall mounting.
History:
In the olden times, a knight's shield had various forms and shapes. It could be round, square, or the kite shaped and was used to defend the knight from attack. They could be made of metal for strong protection, but during the 14th and 15th centuries, they were usually made of wood for easy carrying. A knight's shield protected him from the blows of battle as he held in one hand while we carried his sword or lance in the other. |
